Independent agencies and sole operators have blitzed the nominations for the David Hellaby Best PR Professional award at the upcoming 7th Annual Sun Microsystems IT Journalism Awards.


The finalists are:
David Bass (Bass Public Relations)
Shuna Boyd (Boyd PR)
Duncan Craig (PPR)
Christine Kardashian (Dash Public Relations)
Corrie McLeod (Espresso Communications)
Pru Quinlan (Einsteinz Communications)


More than 50 journalists responded to the request for nominations and each of the finalists were nominated by four or more journalists.


"Journalists were asked to nominate based on responsiveness, understanding of the journalist's audience and workflows, creativity and ethical behaviour, so it should not be a surprise that the finalists are some of the industry's most experienced PR operators," said MediaConnect CEO Phil Sim.


The winner will receive a year's membership to the Public Relations Institute of Australia and a PRIA workshop.
